Bulldogs v Sharks preview

It has been well over a month since the Bulldogs won their last game.

And unfortunately for Dean Pay's men, instead of improving with each performance, they seem to be drifting further away from a breakthrough victory.

Their most recent loss to the Roosters, by the tune of 38 points to 12, was their sixth defeat this year by 20 points or more.

It marks a concerning trend for the last-placed Bulldogs.

While they weren't considered much a threat in this year's competition on talent alone, many still expected they would be thereabouts because they are traditionally a very gritty team.

A side that is hard to break down.

They may not have the flair but their determination in defence was enough.

This year, however, they aren't just scoring the least points in the competition. They are also conceding the most.

Team News
Bulldogs
1. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 2. Nick Meaney 3. Marcelo Montoya 4. Will Hopoate 5. Reimis Smith 6. Kieran Foran 7. Jack Cogger 8. Aiden Tolman 9. Michael Lichaa 10. Dylan Napa 11. Josh Jackson 12. Corey Harawira-Naera 13. Chris Smith 14. Rhyse Martin 15. Danny Fualalo 16. Ofahiki Ogden 17. Sauaso Sue 20. Brandon Wakeham 21. Adam Elliott

Sharks
1. Matt Moylan 2. Sosaia Feki 3. Bronson Xerri 4. Josh Morris 5. Josh Dugan 6. Shaun Johnson 7. Chad Townsend 8. Braden Hamlin-Uele 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Matt Prior 11. Briton Nikora 12. Wade Graham 13. Paul Gallen 14. Blayke Brailey 15. Jayson Bukuya 16. Jack Williams 17. Kurt Capewell 19. Kyle Flanagan 21. Aaron Woods

Nothing is going right.

They also lose livewire Jeremy Marshall-King (knee) at hooker, with Michael Lichaa his replacement.

Lichaa has been impressive in reserve grade, only recently setting up five tries in one single game.

Chris Smith is also promoted to lock in place of Raymond Faitala-Mariner while Jack Cogger (concussion) is back partnering Kieran Foran in the halves.

The Sharks were also on track for a heavy defeat when they trailed the Raiders 20-0 a fortnight ago.

Unlike the Bulldogs, they were able to fight back and only fall short 22-20.

It means that their position in the top eight is still under threat, with the men from the shire sitting just one win in front of the ninth-placed Tigers.

While a game with the lowly Bulldogs may be the perfect way to bounce back, things aren't as simple as they seem.

Sometimes complacency can creep in and tempt the Sharks to play to the level of their opposition.

They will also be without rampaging front rower Andrew Fifita (suspension), replaced in the starting side by Braden Hamlin-Uele.

Wade Graham, who has been excellent since returning from a torn ACL, moves onto the edge with Kurt Capewell reverting back to the bench.

Jayden Brailey (knee) also makes his comeback in the number nine jersey.

Last meeting: Round 25 2018 - Bulldogs 18 Sharks 30

Who to watch: Michael Lichaa finally has his chance to impress, making his first NRL appearance since Round 7. He has certainly made the most of his time in Canterbury Cup, managing nine try-assists and 10 line-break assists in six games.

Marshall-King has been one of Canterbury-Bankstown's most dangerous players in recent weeks with his running game in particular proving a danger. Lichaa brings a similar spark out of dummy-half and could have a crucial role in helping the Bulldogs get over the line on Sunday.

It is no coincidence that the Sharks have looked a more potent side in attack with the return of Wade Graham. And his inclusion in the starting side this week could pose a serious threat to Canterbury.

While the Bulldogs have always had a strong forward pack, much has been made of their creativity being stifled. Hard and fast running will only get you so far. Graham, however, brings something different.

He has a deft short kicking game and knows when to pop a late offload to create space. The Bulldogs will need to shut him down or risk the likes of Bronson Xerri tearing them apart on the edge.

The favourite: Cronulla are well-backed here.

My tip: You just can't tip the Bulldogs here. The Sharks are always strong in defence and have more points in them. Sharks by 16.

MATCH PREVIEW | New Zealand Warriors vs Penrith Panthers

TEAM FORM GUIDE
New Zealand Warriors
The Warriors have won just one of their last three matches, their last start an ugly win over the Titans prior to the representative weekend. The 2019 season seems to be another case of the Warriors failing to live up to their potential. On their best day, the Warriors are beautiful to watch but when they’re off they are really off.

Penrith Panthers
The Panthers last loss came against the Warriors back in Round 10. Since then, they have won four straight and against some quality opposition including the Roosters and the Rabbitohs. With a poor for and against, they are yet to move up the ladder but the Panthers are playing with much more enthusiasm and look like they’re enjoying their footy once again.

SQUAD NEWS
New Zealand Warriors
Tohu Harris is out with a knee injury with Jazz Tevaga coming into back row in his place. Nathaniel Roache returns on the bench in place of Isaac Luke, while Sam Lisone and Leivaha Pulu also come onto the bench.

New Zealand Warriors squad: 1 Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, 2 David Fusitu’a, 3 Peta Hiku, 4 Patrick Herbert, 5 Ken Maumalo, 6 Kodi Nikorima, 7 Blake Green, 8 Agnatius Paasi, 9 Karl Lawton, 10 Leeson Ah Mau, 11 Adam Blair, 12 Isaiah Papali’i, 13 Jazz Tevaga Interchange: 14 Nathaniel Roache, 15 Bunty Afoa, 16 Sam Lisone, 17 Leivaha Pulu Reserves: 18 Gerard Beale, 20 Ligi Sao, 21 Chris Satae, 22 Chanel Harris-Tavita

Penrith Panthers
Jarome Luai comes into the halves in place of the injured Nathan Cleary, while Hame Sele joins the bench. Dean Whare has also been named in the reserves and could be a late inclusion in the final 17.

Penrith Panthers squad: 1 Dylan Edwards, 2 Josh Mansour, 3 Isaah Yeo, 4 Brent Naden, 5 Brian To’o, 6 Jarome Luai, 7 James Maloney, 8 James Tamou, 9 Mitchell Kenny, 10 James Fisher-Harris, 11 Viliame Kikau, 12 Frank Winterstein, 13 Liam Martin Interchange: 14 Wayde Egan, 15 Reagan Campbell-Gillard, 16 Moses Leota, 17 Hame Sele Reserves: 18 Kaide Ellis, 19 Malakai Watene-Zelezniak, 20 Sione Katoa, 21 Dean Whare

HEAD TO HEAD
The Warriors thumped the Panthers 30-10 the last time these two sides met to hand Penrith their sixth straight loss. Kodi Nikorima and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck were at their devastating best that night while the Panthers failed to capitalise on their numerous scoring opportunities.

Since then, the Panthers have not lost and they will be hoping to continue that streak this weekend.

KEY BATTLE
James Maloney vs Blake Green. Blake Green has thrived in the halfback role since taking over from Shaun Johnson, and his combination with Kodi Nikorima will only improve with time.

Since being snubbed for Origin One, James Maloney has been at his scintillating best and will need to continue that form for the next month without Nathan Cleary by his side. He will be full of confidence after playing a significant role in the Blues win in Game Two.

WHO WILL WIN?
While Nathan Cleary has yet to reach his best form in 2019, his loss will still hurt the Panthers. On the other hand, James Maloney has had no issue in stepping up as the lead playmaker when required. The Warriors have been hit and miss this season and while the Panthers are still struggling to score points they’ve learnt the ability to grind out wins and their momentum should carry on into this game.

MATCH PREVIEW | Newcastle Knights vs Brisbane Broncos

TEAM FORM GUIDE
Newcastle Knights
After running hot on a six-game unbeaten run (including wins over the Dragons, Roosters and Rabbitohs) the Knights were brought back down to earth with a thumping loss to the Storm. The Knights will be wary not to fall into another slump like they did at the start of the year, with a five-game winless run preceding their streak of wins.

Brisbane Broncos
The Broncos also started the season with some indifferent form before finding their feet during a three-game winning run leading into their bye week. Since then they seem to have fallen back into losing ways, going down to the Titans and Eels, both games they were expected to win easily.

SQUAD NEWS
Newcastle Knights
Newcastle will be sweating on the fitness of Queensland Origin prop Tim Glasby, who damaged ligaments in his elbow on Sunday night. It would seem the former Storm lock is an unlikely starter, which could pave the way for either David Klemmer or Aiden Guerra to return from injury.

If Klemmer is fit he will be rushed in regardless, but the Knights’ coaching staff would rather give Guerra another week in the Canterbury Cup. Sione Mata’utia has been promoted to start on the right edge in place of the suspended Mitch Barnett, whilst Josh King takes his place on the bench. Kalyn Ponga picked up a cork during Origin, but is likely to play.

Newcastle Knights squad: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Edrick Lee 3. Hymel Hunt 4. Jesse Ramien 5. Shaun Kenny-Dowall 6. Kurt Mann 7. Mitchell Pearce 8. James Gavet 9. Connor Watson 10. Daniel Saifiti 11. Lachlan Fitzgibbon 12. Sione Mata’utia 13. Tim Glasby 14. Jamie Buhrer 15. Herman Ese’ese 16. Josh King 17. Pasami Saulo 18. Mason Lino 19. David Klemmer 20. Jacob Saifiti 21. Aidan Guerra

Brisbane Broncos
Anthony Seibold has made a few changes to the side that was thrashed by the Eels, with Samoan International Jamayne Isaako dropped for Richard Kennar, whilst Origin prop Joe Ofahengaue replaces Jayden S’uA on the bench. Funnily enough, S’uA has been linked to the Knights in the past few days, as an early exit looms for the young backrower.

Seibold has also decided to start veteran hooker Andrew McCullough over youngster Jake Turpin despite Turpin impressing during McCullough’s absence. The drums are starting to beat in ‘Bris Vegas’ with plenty of fans – and even some former players – suggesting the side plays better with Turpin distributing the ball from dummy half.

Brisbane Broncos squad: 1. Darius Boyd 2. Corey Oates 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Gehamat Shibasaki 5. Richard Kennar 6. Anthony Milford 7. Sean O’Sullivan 8. Matthew Lodge 9. Andrew McCullough 10. Payne Haas 11. David Fifita 12. Matt Gillett 13. Tevita Pangai 14. Jake Turpin 15. Joe Ofahengaue 16. Thomas Flegler 17. Patty Carrigan 18. Xavier Coates 19. Jaydn Su’A 20. James Segeyaro 21. Shaun Fensom

HEAD TO HEAD
These two sides met just the once in 2018 (Newcastle winning 15-10), but the match is remembered more from the post-game press conference, where Knights’ coach Nathan Brown had a dig at Wayne Bennett with the infamous ‘Little Wayne’ remark.

With Bennett now gone the focus will be on the field, where the Broncos have historically done all the talking: 35 wins from the 51 meetings for the Broncos including 6 in a row before last year’s game.

KEY BATTLE
The Broncos need to start showing some of the form so many experts predicted when they instilled them as one of the competition favourites. Maybe those predictions were a bit too bold for a young side who are not only trying to find their feet in the NRL, but for a coach who seems to be having a case of ‘second year syndrome’.

In Seibold’s first season coaching South Sydney he inherited an experienced, battled-hardened side who just needed a change of voice to inspire them to within a game of the grand final. This year he’s taken over a side very low on experience – especially in their forward pack – and who have huge question marks over all four members of their spine.

Seibold needs those members of his spine to step up and help direct their young powerful pack around the field – especially Anthony Milford, who has shown glimpses of brilliance this year, but hasn’t been able to string enough good games together in a row. He was the standout player for Samoa on the weekend and he’ll need to reproduce that form this Saturday if the Broncos are any chance of winning.

Newcastle are stewing on their deplorable loss to Melbourne two weeks ago in round 14; after talking up a big game leading up to the match, Newcastle failed to fire a shot as they put in the worst performance of their season. With a packed home crowd awaiting them, they’ll have a chance to put that game behind them and get back into the winners circle.

During their winning run it was the Mitchell Pearce – Kayln Ponga show, as the two marquee men from Newcastle had been putting teams to the sword weekly. Their combination seems to get better every week, and it will again be relied on this week for points if Newcastle want to move back into the top four.

WHO WILL WIN?
It’s hard to go past the Knights at home considering their form prior to the Storm game, whilst the Broncos seem to have fallen off a cliff coming off their last bye; it will be interesting to see how they respond this time around.

Knights 1-12.

MATCH PREVIEW | Gold Coast Titans vs Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles

TEAM FORM GUIDE
Gold Coast Titans
The Titans are still running 15th and desperate to avoid the wooden spoon. Once again I have to type the word ‘inconsistency’ about them as they followed a great win against the Broncos with a disappointing performance against the Warriors.

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
Manly are exceeding expectations this season, sitting in sixth and on the upswing with players returning from injury/Origin. They are coming in hot with back-to-back wins against the Dragons and the Cowboys.

SQUAD NEWS
Gold Coast Titans
Jai Arrow is out – some reports say six weeks and some say twelve – in a massive blow for a team that was already struggling. Jai Whitbread is at lock and Kevin Proctor is on the extended bench and a chance to return from a facial fracture he suffered early in the season. Big-money recruits Shannon Boyd and Tyrone Peachey are both named to play from the bench. Rumour is that Peachey will be released to return to Penrith (on compassionate grounds) and this could even be his last game for the team that offered him big money. Disappointing for this to happen to the Titans again, but Tyrone has hardly been great since making the move, so perhaps it’s best for everyone if he leaves.

Gold Coast Titans team list:

1. AJ Brimson 2. Anthony Don 3. Jesse Arthars 4. Brian Kelly 5. Dale Copley 6. Tyrone Roberts 7. Ryley Jacks 8. Jarrod Wallace 9. Nathan Peats 10. Moeaika Fotuaika 11. Will Matthews 12. Bryce Cartwright 13. Jai Whitbread 14. Mitch Rein 15. Tyrone Peachey 16. Jack Stockwell 17. Shannon Boyd 18. Leilani Latu 19. Phillips Sami 20. Brenko Lee 21. Kevin Procter.

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
Api Koroisau and Jack Gosiewski are both out. Manase Fainu starts at hooker and Brendan Elliot is on the bench. Daly Cherry-Evans, Jake Trbojevic and Tom Trbojevic are all named to back up from Origin two, with Tommy Turbo one of the scariest X-factor players in the competition. He’s fresh off scoring a hat-trick in Origin two and running for 341 metres with 9 tackle busts in the win against the Dragons, so who knows what he will do to a team with no confidence and without two of their biggest names in Jai Arrow and Ash Taylor?

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles team list:

1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Jorge Taufua 3. Dylan Walker 4. Moses Suli 5. Reuben Garrick 6. Cade Cust 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Manase Fainu 10. Martin Taupau 11. Joel Thompson 12. Curtis Sironen 13. Jake Trbojevic 14. Brendan Elliot 15. Corey Waddell 16. Morgan Boyle 17. Taniela Paseka 18. Lachlan Croker 19. Kane Elgey 20. Haumole Olakau’atu 21. Lloyd Perrett.

HEAD TO HEAD
These sides have been evenly matched the last few seasons, with both taking five wins from the last ten matches. The Titans have won four of the last five, including the last three games.

KEY BATTLE
AJ Brimson vs Tom Trbojevic. AJ Brimson is undoubtedly a player with huge potential who probably could have won Dally M Rookie Of The Year honours last year if he played the full season. He is up against it this week when his opposite number is the form player in the NRL: even though he’s only played two club games and one Origin since he went down injured just after half time in round four. The Titans really don’t have many attacking threats and they need Brimson to have a blinder if they are any chance of getting the two points here.

WHO WILL WIN?
Hard to see the Titans getting the win here, but no one thought they’d beat the Broncos either, so who knows? Manly have more Origin players, but backing up is a non-issue with six days between games. It pains me to type this but my money is on Manly to get a big win.

MATCH PREVIEW | Sydney Roosters vs Melbourne Storm

TEAM FORM GUIDE
Sydney Roosters
Currently sitting third on the NRL ladder, the Roosters will no doubt be determined to replicate the strong performance they exhibited against the Canterbury Bulldogs prior to the representative round.

Melbourne Storm
Following their comprehensive victory over the Newcastle Knights in round 14, the Storm will be looking to continue their reign of success and make it five on the trot.

SQUAD NEWS
Sydney Roosters
Origin star James Tedesco’s (fullback) return pushes Joseph Manu back to the centres, with Mitch Aubusson resultantly shifted to the interchange bench. Zane Tetevano has been named to start at prop and Isaac Liu has been reverted to lock. In a further change, Lindsay Collins has been recalled to the interchange bench.

Sydney Roosters squad: 1 James Tedesco, 2 Daniel Tupou, 3 Latrell Mitchell, 4 Joseph Manu, 5 Ryan Hall, 6 Drew Hutchison, 7 Cooper Cronk, 8 Zane Tetevano, 9 Victor Radley, 10 Siosiua Taukeiaho, 11 Boyd Cordner, 12 Angus Crichton, 13 Isaac Liu. Interchange: 14 Nat Butcher, 15 Lindsay Collins, 16 Sitili Tupouniua, 17 Mitchell Aubusson. Reserves: 18 Poasa Faamausili, 19 Matt Ikuvalu, 20 Lachlan Lam, 21 Brett Morris.

Melbourne Storm
The Storm’s winning line-up remains unchanged for this clash, with all representative players expected to back up after coming through their respective matches unscathed.

Melbourne Storm squad: 1 Jahrome Hughes, 2 Suliasi Vunivalu, 3 Will Chambers, 4 Marion Seve, 5 Josh Addo-Carr, 6 Cameron Munster, 7 Brodie Croft, 8 Jesse Bromwich, 9 Cameron Smith, 10 Nelson Asofa-Solomona, 11 Felise Kaufusi, 12 Kenneath Bromwich, 13 Dale Finucane. Interchange: 14 Brandon Smith, 15 Christian Welch, 16 Joe Stimson, 17 Ryan Papenhuyzen. Reserves: 18 Justin Olam, 19 Tui Kamikamica, 20 Tino Faasuamaleaui, 21 Sandor Earl.

HEAD TO HEAD
After being narrowly defeated 9-8 in last year’s clash, the Roosters will be motivated to make amends this time around. The return of victorious Blues stars James Tedesco and Boyd Cordner is anticipated to bolster the Roosters’ morale and give them a competitive edge over their Melbourne arch-rivals. To secure victory, it is imperative that the Roosters’ front line make it their intent to halt hooker Cameron Smith and his freedom out of dummy half. Restricting the Storm’s advances down the centre of the field will limit their ability to produce offloads and deliver pinpoint passes to their talented backline. Ensuring that Smith and five-eighth Cameron Munster are contained should be of paramount importance to the Roosters on this occasion.

For the Storm, defensive pressure is the key to success. Given the calibre of talent within the Roosters’ backline, the Storm must remain wary of their trademark long, sweeping passes. Restricting the Roosters’ forwards to the centre of the field will reduce the likelihood of their backline being able to muster off-the-cuff football. From an attacking perspective, the combination between halves Munster and Brodie Croft must be cohesive. Maintaining adept kicking and passing for the entirety of the match is vital if the Storm are to break through the Roosters’ defensive line. Also making it their intent to diminish Roosters centre Latrell Mitchell’s influence is required.

WHO WILL WIN?

Expect this clash to be decided by a narrow margin. Although the Roosters will show plenty of fight, it is hard to foresee the Storm falling victim to a late crow.

MATCH PREVIEW | St George Illawarra Dragons vs North Queensland Cowboys

TEAM FORM GUIDE
St George Illawarra Dragons
The Dragons have been disappointing for the last few months and would have been expecting a better effort against Manly after their drought breaking win. While they have struggled to field a full strength team throughout the season, the effort from their depth players on the back of a few poor performance from some key players has certainly not helped.

North Queensland Cowboys
The Cowboys have lacked a little cohesion recently and with a bit more luck on their side could have won their previous games. They’ll be desperate to improve on their season and will be hoping for a lift from their Origin and rep players and those selected to fill in for the injuries that keep mounting.

SQUAD NEWS
St George Illawarra Dragons
There are two changes to the side that lost to Manly with Timoteo Lafai returning from injury and Jeremy Lattimore taking Jai Field’s spot on the bench. All Origin players have been named to play and with the reserves being filled with backs it seems that there won’t be any players being rested.

St George Illawarra Dragons squad: 1. Matt Dufty 2. Jonus Pearson 3. Euan Aitken 4. Timoteo Lafai 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Corey Norman 7. Ben Hunt 8. Blake Lawrie 9. Cameron McInnes 10. Paul Vaughan 11. Jacob Host 12. Tariq Sims 13. Tyson Frizell INTERCHANGE: 14. Jeremy Lattimore 15. Reece Robson 16. Korbin Sims 17. Luciano Leilua RESERVES: 18. Jai Field 19. Jordan Pereira 20. Lachlan Maranta 21. Josh Kerr

North Queensland Cowboys
Scott Drinkwater has come straight from Melbourne and straight into the starting fullback position with Michael Morgan moving back into his five-eight position. Jordan Kahu pushes Enari Tuala out of centre and onto the wing with Javid Bowen moving to the reserves. Jordan McLean returns to the forward pack from injury while Coen Hess and Josh McGuire are out for this match through injury and suspension. Reuben Cotter and Corey Jenson take up two of the bench positions for now but with Matthew Scott named in the reserves there is potential for some changes.

North Queensland Cowboys squad: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Kyle Feldt 3. Jordan Kahu 4. Tom Opacic 5. Enari Tuala 6. Michael Morgan 7. Jake Clifford 8. Scott Bolton 9. Jake Granville 10. Jordan McLean 11. Gavin Cooper 12. Shane Wright 13. Jason Taumalolo INTERCHANGE: 14. Reuben Cotter 15. John Asiata 16. Corey Jensen 17. Francis Molo RESERVES: 18. Peter Hola 19. Javid Bowen 20. Matthew Scott 21. Emry Pere

HEAD TO HEAD
The sides met in a first round encounter with the Cowboys emerging victorious 24-12. Much of the criticism of the game was directed at the new look Dragons spine and the role Matt Dufty was playing off the bench. This time around the Dragons will have no issues in regards to speculation around the spine. For the Cowboys, their performance in Round 1 was built largely around the work of their forwards, led expertly by Jason Taumalolo. The recent history between these two teams has been back and forth but before that, the Cowboys had the better of the Dragons in this matchup.

KEY BATTLE
Ben Hunt and Michael Morgan were teammates this past Sunday and were playing in different positions to where they play for their club. Morgan will slot back in to his roving role, switching between five-eight and fullback while Ben Hunt will be leading his team from halfback. How both these players respond to the result on Sunday night will go a big way in determining the result of this match. Morgan will need to bring his running game and test the Dragons defence out wide. If he pushes forward and supports his forwards, he could find some big gaps up the middle through second phase play. It will be his responsibility to pick the Dragons apart. While the Dragons will look to Ben Hunt’s kicking game in order to turn the big Cowboys pack around. Ben Hunt’s kicking game in Origin was decent, behind a losing pack, and the Dragons will be looking for him to continue his kicking form to ensure they are giving the opposition the ball back at the right end of the field.

WHO WILL WIN?
The Cowboys forwards have the ability to play long minutes and continue the intensity from the bench. The Dragons will be searching for a big effort from their Origin forwards, if they are selected to backup. But they need more from their bench, who have yet to prove that they are willing to for an entire match. The Cowboys will be hoping for something big off the back of their close losses and should be too strong.

2019 NRL – Wests Tigers vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Preview & Prediction

THE TEAM NEWS

WESTS TIGERS

Head Coach: Michael Maguire

Starting 13: Thompson, Jennings, Mbye, Marsters, Nofoaluma, Marshall, Brooks, Aloiai, Farah, Twal, Matterson, Lawrence, Eisenhuth – Interchanges: Liddle, Mikaele, Taylor, Chee-Kam – Reserves: Momirovski, McQueen, Reynolds, Clark

Unavailable: Mahe Fonua, Ben Matulino

Wests Tigers ended their three-match losing run as they secured a dramatic golden point victory over North Queensland Cowboys and will hope that can be the catalyst for a positive run of form.

Josh Reynolds could be available to make his return for the Tigers this week after featuring in the Canterbury Cup last weekend but he is unlikely to feature in the 17 after he was only named as a reserve with little indication that he will be a late addition to the side.

Chris Lawrence has been rewarded for his form since returning from a horrific facial injury with a spot in the back row with Michael Chee-Kam dropping to the bench whilst Elijah Taylor has earned a recall with Ben Matulino unavailable.

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

Starting 13: Johnston, Gagai, Roberts, Burns, Graham, Walker, Reynolds, G. Burgess, Cook, Knight, Sutton, Lowe, Murray – Interchanges: Tatola, Nicholls, Britt, Turner – Reserves: Allan, Tracey, Doueihi, S. Burgess, Amone

Unavailable: Kurt Dillon, Tom Burgess

South Sydney lost their third game in a row as their struggles continued with another below-par performance against Penrith and will be desperate to turn their form around as they face Wests Tigers.

Adam Reynolds could give the Rabbitohs a huge boost by returning to the side following a back injury as they aim to return to winning ways and he has been named to start but will need to prove his fitness before kick-off.

Sam Burgess is also a surprise name amongst the reserves and he could make a sooner than expected return from shoulder surgery but Alex Johnston may drop out of the side before kick-off due to a knock.

THE PREDICTION

Wests Tigers ended their losing streak whilst South Sydney's streak was extended to three games as they fell even further behind Melbourne at the top of the NRL ladder. Adam Reynolds returning to the halves could be vital for Souths and they can end their losing streak if he features. The Rabbitohs will want to avoid losing a fourth consecutive game but not at the expense of rushing back a couple of their star players and the move could backfire if they are not 100% to feature but providing they name the right line-up, Souths can get back to winning ways.

MATCH PREVIEW | Sydney Roosters vs Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

TEAM FORM GUIDE
Sydney Roosters
After narrowly beating Canberra in Magic Round, the Roosters had eight straight wins and looked invincible: the #EastsToWin hashtag living up to its name. Since then, they’ve lost to Brisbane, Newcastle and Penrith, and gained a valuable two points from the bye. Canberra (fourth), Newcastle (fifth) and Cronulla (sixth) are now one win behind the Roosters. Their slump proves defending an NRL premiership is harder than Lisa trying to solve Professor Provolone’s Picto-Puzzle. The Roosters have an impressive 3-1 record at the SCG, and haven’t played there since belting Wests 42-12 in round eight.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
It’s been a tough year for Canterbury. While they’ve shown plenty of heart, they’ve lacked the execution and experience to follow through on their efforts. Their 36-12 loss to St. George-Illawarra on Queen’s Birthday Monday was their third straight defeat. With the Gold Coast and Penrith starting to pick up some wins, the 16th-placed Bulldogs are in danger of losing touch with the rest of the competition.

SQUAD NEWS
Sydney Roosters
Latrell Mitchell and Angus Crichton return after missing round 13. Mitch Aubusson switches to the bench for Latrell, while Sitili Tupouniua moves to the bench for Crichton. Victor Radley plays hooker in place of Sam Verrills.

Sydney Roosters squad: 1. James Tedesco 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Latrell Mitchell 4. Joseph Manu 5. Ryan Hall 6. Drew Hutchison 7. Cooper Cronk 8. Zane Tetevano 9. Victor Radley 10. Siosiua Taukeiaho 11. Boyd Cordner 12. Angus Crichton 13. Isaac Liu 14. Nat Butcher 15. Lindsay Collins 16. Sitili Tupouniua 17. Mitchell Aubusson 18. Poasa Faamausili 19. Matt Ikuvalu 20. Brock Lamb 21. Sam Verrills.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
Former Panther Dallin Watene-Zelezniak makes his Canterbury debut in the centres, Marcelo Montoya moves to the wing and Christian Crichton is dropped. Ofahiki Ogden moves to the reserves, with Corey Harawira-Naera taking his place on the bench.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs squad: 1. Nick Meaney 2. Marcelo Montoya 3. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 4. Will Hopoate 5. Reimis Smith 6. Kieran Foran 7. Jack Cogger 8. Aiden Tolman 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Dylan Napa 11. Josh Jackson 12. Raymond Faitala-Mariner 13. Adam Elliott 14. Rhyse Martin 15. Danny Fualalo 16. Corey Harawira-Naera 17. Sauaso Sue 19. Fa’amanu Brown 20. Michael Lichaa 21. Chris Smith 22. Ofahiki Ogden

HEAD TO HEAD
The Roosters played Canterbury twice in 2018 (inside the first seven rounds), winning both games. They beat Canterbury 30-12 in round two at the SFS, with tries to Cooper Cronk, Blake Ferguson, Luke Keary, Ryan Matterson and James Tedesco. The return game – in round seven at Homebush – saw the Roosters grind a 6-0 win, with Latrell Mitchell scoring all six points.

KEY BATTLE
Latrell Mitchell v Dallin Watene-Zelezniak. Both players will be keen for strong games for different reasons. After a great start to 2019 (eight tries and 43 goals), Mitchell had a shocker in Origin I and missed the Roosters’ loss to Penrith to recover. With the Origin II teams named after this round, Mitchell needs a big performance for the Roosters to keep his Blues jersey and redeem himself in Perth.
After over 100 games with Penrith, Watene-Zelezniak was given permission to negotiate with other clubs and Canterbury quickly signed him. The New Zealand international gives Canterbury much-needed experience and his desire to impress his new club could spark an upset if the Roosters aren’t careful.

WHO WILL WIN?
This is a huge game for the Roosters. While Canterbury shouldn’t be taken lightly, the Roosters will see this game as a chance to solidify their top four spot. Canterbury will be competitive, but the Roosters will find a way to win.Sydney Roosters by 12.

MATCH PREVIEW | Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles v St. George-Illawarra Dragons

TEAM FORM GUIDE
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
Manly stopped a two-game losing streak in Townsville last weekend, piping the Cowboys 22-20 to maintain their top eight status. They sit seventh on the ladder, and are the last team with a positive points difference.

The Sea Eagles can look back on their season and be happy with their current standing, as they have been hit with key injuries to their star players.

Their home form is hot and cold at 4-3, and they have lost their last two at Brookvale. The most recent loss to the Titans was not only surprising, but their heaviest loss this year.

St. George-Illawarra Dragons
St George-Illawarra are currently outside the top eight, but are nested in with another seven teams (from Manly in 7th to the Cowboys in 13th) seperated by just two points. With similarly-placed teams the Broncos and Eels on the same points and better for-and-against, even a win won’t help the Dragons into the top eight this weekend.

The Dragons broke a five-game losing streak last weekend against the Bulldogs; coincidentally the last win for the Dragons before that was in round six against Manly.

SQUAD NEWS
Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
No need for Des Hasler to change his winning side from the previous week.

Tom Trbojevic’s return last weekend was a big boost, and the Sea Eagles star has had a week under his belt, so should be even closer to his usual dynamic self this weekend. A potential NSW berth awaits. The Sunday afternoon kick off also provides some relief for the State of Origin stars, as Jake Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans get a decent rest.

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles squad:
1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Jorge Taufua 3. Dylan Walker 4. Moses Suli 5. Reuben Garrick 6. Cade Cust 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. Martin Taupau 11. Joel Thompson 12. Curtis Sironen 13. Jake Trbojevic 14. Manase Fainu 15. Jack Gosiewski 16. Morgan Boyle 17. Taniela Paseka 18. Brendan Elliot 19. Kane Elgey 20. Haumole Olakau’atu 21. Lloyd Perrett.

St. George-Illawarra Dragons
After a big win over the Bulldogs on Queen’s Birthday Monday, the Dragons also don’t feel the need to change their 17 either.

A minor swap of positions in the back row are all the alterations for this weekend.

St. George-Illawarra Dragons squad:
1. Matthew Dufty 2. Jonus Pearson 3. Euan Aitken 4. Zac Lomax 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Corey Norman 7. Ben Hunt 8. Blake Lawrie 9. Cameron McInnes 10. Paul Vaughan 11. Jacob Host 12. Tariq Sims 13. Tyson Frizell 14. Jeremy Latimore 15. Reece Robson 16. Korbin Sims 17. Jai Field 18. Luciano Leilua 19. Jordan Pereira 20. Josh Kerr 21. Lachlan Timm

HEAD TO HEAD
The St. George-Illawarra Dragons have already beaten Manly this season (12-10 on April 20), which continues their dominance over the Sea Eagles since 1998. The Dragons have won 78% of clashes between the two sides since the Dragons-Steelers merger.

The Dragons have won the last four day games between the sides, by an average margin of 28 points. Those who like high-scoring games will be happy to know the average total points in day games between them is 51.5 points.

Manly’s record improves to 54% at home to St. George-Illawarra at Brookvale, but they did lose the last game at home 35-10. Prior to that they had won five of six at home to the Dragons.

KEY BATTLE
The easy key battle to point out here are the two Queensland State of Origin stars: Cherry-Evans and Ben Hunt. Hunt was great last weekend against the Bulldogs. Backing up after Origin, the Queensland hooker was a busy man: a line break, line break assist, a try and try assist, a few tackle busts, 100 metres of runs and 20 tackles. Cherry-Evans wasn’t as dynamic, but he was returning from Origin and an injury.

Aside from the silky skills, a key battle for the Dragons will be containing arguably the best prop in the NRL this season: Martin Taupau. The prop – who recently changed his international allegiance from New Zealand to Samoa – has been Manly’s best contributor every week. He leads the NRL players stats for forwards in both runs and run metres so far in 2019. His partner up front Addin Fonua-Blake has been no slouch either. If the Dragons can keep these two quiet, it allows Hunt and Corey Norman room to work their magic and maintain the Dragons’ dominance in this fixture.

WHO WILL WIN?

Recent records between these sides leans one to pick the St. George-Illawarra Dragons, but too many times this year the Sea Eagles tough out a win you wouldn’t expect, and now they are almost at full strength. It will hopefully be a game of attacking rugby league with plenty of points, as per previous day time clashes. Given the Trbojevic factor, a Manly win looks likely. Perhaps a late try to the fullback himself to seal it 28-24.

2019 NRL – Parramatta Eels vs Brisbane Broncos Preview & Prediction

THE FACTS

When is Parramatta Eels vs Brisbane Broncos taking place? Saturday 15th June, 10:35

Where is Parramatta Eels vs Brisbane Broncos taking place? Bankwest Stadium

THE TEAM NEWS

PARRAMATTA EELS

Head Coach: Brad Arthur

Starting 13: Gutherson, Sivo, M. Jennings, Hoffman, Ferguson, Salmon, Moses, Evans, Mahoney, Paulo, Lane, Ma’u, N. Brown – Interchanges: Stone, Terepo, Gower, Niukore – Reserves: Alvaro, Moeroa, Takairangi, Smith

Unavailable: Dylan Brown

Parramatta were unable to back-up their superb win over South Sydney as they fell to a heavy loss away at Cronulla last time out as their inconsistencies continue to blight them with their place inside the top 8 looking precarious.

Jaeman Salmon has earned a recall at five-eighth as the Eels with Will Smith the man to make way for the Eels after some disappointing displays in recent games whilst Tepai Moeroa.

Kaysa Pritchard announced his retirement at the age of just 25 after injuries took their toll on his body, especially after suffering a crushed testicle with that proving to be the final straw and he will be honoured by the club before kick-off.

BRISBANE BRONCOS

Head Coach: Anthony Seibold

Starting 13: Boyd, Oates, Staggs, Shibasaki, Isaako, Milford, O’Sullivan, Lodge, Turpin, Haas, Fifita, Gillett, Pangai Jnr. – Interchanges: McCullough, Su’A, Flegler, Carrigan – Reserves: Kennar, Fensom, Mago, Segeyaro

Unavailable: Jack Bird, Joe Ofahengaue, Alex Glenn, Tom Dearden

Brisbane were underwhelming as their recent upturn in form came to an abrupt end as they suffered a shock defeat at home to Gold Coast but have a good chance to bounce back as they face an erratic Parramatta.

The Broncos will be without rookie halfback Tom Dearden so Sean O'Sullivan will get his chance to shine whilst Alex Glenn is also out but he will be replaced by Matt Gillett who returns following his Origin appearance.

Corey Oates is also back after he missed last week’s fixture with a hip injury with Richie Kennar dropping to the reserves and he will be looking to add to his haul of nine tries so far this season.

THE PREDICTION

Parramatta blow hot and cold and last week was definitely cold as they were heavily defeated by Cronulla. They now return to the Bankwest Stadium where their better performances and results have come so far this season but the Broncos should be better than last week and can bounce back with a win. They will field a different team to last week because of injuries with Sean O’Sullivan getting his chance to impress in the halves and he can be key on his debut for the Broncos to help them to the win.

2019 NRL – South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Penrith Panthers Preview & Prediction

THE FACTS

When is South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Penrith Panthers taking place? Saturday 15th June, 08:30

Where is South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Penrith Panthers taking place? ANZ Stadium

THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

Starting 13: Allan, Gagai, Roberts, Turner, Graham, Walker, Doueihi, G. Burgess, Cook, Knight, Sutton, Lowe, Murray – Interchanges: Tatola, Nicholls, Britt, Amone – Reserves: Kennedy, Tracey, Johnston, Hiroti

Unavailable: Kurt Dillon, Braidon Burns, Adam Reynolds, Sam Burgess, Tom Burgess

After starting the season with a 10-1 record, South Sydney have now lost back-to-back games as Newcastle defeated them last week and they face another tough game here with Penrith hitting some form.

The Rabbitohs will be without Tom Burgess through suspension whilst older brother Sam misses out following shoulder surgery and Adam Reynolds is still not fit enough to return in the halves.

Thankfully for the Rabbitohs, they are able to call upon his halfback partner Cody Walker after he was rested last week so he will line-up alongside Adam Doueihi whilst Alex Johnston is expected to be elevated from the reserves before kick-off as he returns from injury.

PENRITH PANTHERS

Head Coach: Ivan Cleary

Starting 13: Edwards, Mansour, Yeo, Naden, To’o, Maloney, Cleary, Tamou, Kenny, Fisher-Harris, Kikau, Winterstein, Martin – Interchanges: Egan, Luai, Leota, Campbell-Gillard – Reserves: Aekins, Ellis, Watene-Zelezniak, Cartwright

Unavailable: Tyrone May, Dean Whare, Waqa Blake

Penrith may have finally turned the corner as they produced their best display of the year over the Roosters to make it three wins in a row and will now face an under-strength South Sydney.

The Panthers have named the same 17 as last week with head coach Ivan Cleary backing the team that saw off the reigning Premiers to keep his side’s run of form going as they head to ANZ.

That means the likes of Sione Katoa are likely to find themselves in reserve grade once again this week with Mitch Kenny earning the 9 jersey following his promotion to Penrith’s 30-man squad.

THE PREDICTION

South Sydney need to bounce back following back-to-back losses which has seen them fall from the top of the NRL ladder. They now host a Penrith side that have won three consecutive games and continue to improve but the Rabbitohs will be without some key men once again. They have lost Sam and Tom Burgess whilst Adam Reynolds remains unavailable and those losses could be difficult to overcome. The Panthers will be full of confidence after another solid win last week and they can make it four wins in a row.

2019 NRL – Melbourne Storm vs Newcastle Knights Preview & Prediction

THE FACTS

When is Melbourne Storm vs Newcastle Knights taking place? Saturday 15th June, 06:00

Where is Melbourne Storm vs Newcastle Knights taking place? AAMI Park

THE TEAM NEWS

MELBOURNE STORM

Head Coach: Craig Bellamy

Starting 13: Hughes, Vunivalu, Chambers, Seve, Addo-Carr, Munster, Croft, J. Bromwich, C. Smith, Asofa-Solomona, F. Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, Finucane – Interchanges: B. Smith, Welch, Stimson, Papenhuyzen – Reserves: Kamikamica, Earl

Unavailable: Tom Eisenhuth, Curtis Scott

Melbourne overcame a slow start to score 30 unanswered points in an impressive victory over New Zealand Warriors in Auckland as they opened up a two-point gap at the top of the NRL ladder.

Storm head coach Craig Bellamy has named the same 17 that defeated the Warriors last weekend as he sees no reason to change his side following the impressive performance to turn the game on its head.

That side will see Christian Welch retain his place after returning from a knee injury and he will be eager to spend as long on the pitch as possible as he plays for a new deal whilst he will also want to put himself in the frame for an Origin call-up.

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

Head Coach: Nathan Brown

Starting 13: Ponga, Lee, Hunt, Ramien, Kenny-Dowall, Mann, Pearce, Gavet, Watson, D. Saifiti, Fitzgibbon, Barnett, Glasby – Interchanges: Buhrer, Ese’ese, Mata’utia, Saulo – Reserves: Lino, J. Saifiti

Unavailable: Slade Griffin, Aidan Guerra, Danny Levi, David Klemmer, Josh King

Newcastle's fine run of form continued as they claimed the scalp of another side towards the top of the ladder with a win over South Sydney as they made it six victories in succession.

Kalyn Ponga is back for the Knights after he sat out last week's win following his appearance in Origin with Kurt Mann reverting back to the five-eighth position whilst Mason Lino is the man to make way.

Josh King is a late withdrawal after he suffered a corked thigh so Pasami Saulo gets a chance to come off the bench but the game has come too soon for Aidan Guerra who will be out at least one more week.

THE PREDICTION

Newcastle are the form side of the competition as they boast six consecutive wins but now face another huge task as they travel to AAMI Park. The Storm are also in good form but will have to be on their guard against an ever-improving team and the away side could pose problems. With Kalyn Ponga back at fullback, he can rekindle his ever-blossoming relationship with Mitchell Pearce who is likely to line-up against in Origin II next weekend. They will push Melbourne all the way but in what is likely to be a tight contest, it is difficult to back against the Storm at AAMI Park.

MATCH PREVIEW | North Queensland Cowboys vs Wests Tigers

TEAM FORM GUIDE
North Queensland Cowboys
The Cowboys are leading the competition in injuries but are still managing to play some good football, narrowly losing to Manly at home last week. The side were looking for their fifth straight win but even with a mammoth game from Jason Taumalolo running for 311 metres, the northerners just couldn’t manage to strike the final blow.

Wests Tigers
The Tigers have been on a wave of ups and down in 2019 and unfortunately last week they hit a slump, losing to the Raiders at Bankwest, 28-0. The Tigers are in a form slump at the moment but being held to zip may be the kick they need to roar back into form.

SQUAD NEWS
North Queensland Cowboys
The Cowboys will again be forced into making changes as Jordan McLean and young gun Mitch Dunn picked up injuries against Manly. This brings the dangerous Javid Bowen into the side on the wing and Corey Jensen onto the bench. Scott Bolton will move to starting prop while Kurt Baptiste will replace young gun Rueben Cotter in the 14 spot. Michael Morgan will again Captain from the back this Friday night starting at Fullback.

North Queensland Cowboys squad: 1. Michael Morgan (C) 2. Kyle Feldt 3. Enari Tuala 4. Tom Opacic 5. Javid Bowen 6. John Asiata 7. Jake Clifford 8. Josh McGuire 9. Jake Granville 10. Scott Bolton 11. Gavin Cooper 12. Coen Hess 13. Jason Taumalolo 14. Kurt Baptiste 15. Shane Wright 16. Corey Jensen 17. Francis Molo 18. Peter Hola 19. Jordan Kahu 20. Dan Russell 21. Emry Pere.

Wests Tigers
Mahe Fonua is out with injury as Robert Jennings will replace him on the wing while Chris Lawrence will again start on the bench after his inspiring comeback from a facial injury. Corey Thompson remains at fullback with Captain Moses Mbye leading the team from the centres. Esan Marsters will line up in the centres for his 50th NRL appearance this weekend.

Wests Tigers squad: 1. Corey Thompson 2. Robert Jennings 3. Moses Mbye (C) 4. Esan Marsters 5. David Nofoaluma 6. Benji Marshall 7. Luke Brooks 8. Ben Matulino 9. Robbie Farah 10. Alex Twal 11. Ryan Matterson 12. Michael Chee-Kam 13. Matt Eisenhuth 14. Jacob Liddle 15. Thomas Mikaele 16. Josh Aloiai 17. Chris Lawrence 18. Paul Momirovski 19. Chris McQueen 20. Elijah Taylor 21. Luke Garner

HEAD TO HEAD
If you’re a Tiger’s fan, you love to play the Cowboys, if you’re a Cowboy, well maybe not so much. The history of these clubs brings a tale that includes a Benji Marshall flick and a shadow that still lingers over North Queenslander’s heads. The Tigers have proven to be a bogey side for North Queensland since the 2005 Grand Final and it is still very much alive winning three of their last four, including last years 20-12 win at Leichhardt Oval. With both sides even on the table a top eight spot is on the line as wins become more and more crucial as we cross into the second half of the year.

KEY BATTLE
The Tigers success sits on the performance of the team, but it lies on the performance of Robbie Farah. When the Tigers win it is usually due to a strong performance from the 294 game veteran. He leads through voice and action and when his forwards are on the front foot he still shows he has a creative running game. So far this year, Farah has four tries, six try assists, six line-break assists and an astonishing 93.5 per cent tackle rate.

His partnership with Benji Marshall has been scintillating at times but relies on a solid forward platform that has been missing in recent weeks. Farah is coming off of a solid performance in a poor side last week against Canberra making 40 tackles with a good running and kicking game. The key to stopping Farah is not to underestimate his kicking game, slow the play down and to not give him room.

On the other hand you have the electric Jake Granville who since his name has been in origin discussion has tried to lift back to 2015 form. Granville is well-known for his dangerous running game from dummy-half and has lifted his tackle rate in recent times. He has been dangerous close to the line this year was well deserved to be in the race for Queensland’s origin discussion.

So far this year Granville has a try, four try assists and is averaging just under 50 metres a game with the ball in hand. He thrives off the front foot but Taumalolo will be taking on extra load this week with both starting props Matt Scott and Jordan McLean. The key to stopping Granville is to force him into doing a lot of work, trying and contain Taumalolo and watching him close to the line with his boot and his running game.

WHO WILL WIN?
This prediction is going based on form and at this point in time it is the Cowboys who are coming into the game with the hottest heels. The West Tigers will be looking to hit back after a sore loss last week but a win in Townsville may just be out of reach. Cowboys by 8.

MATCH PREVIEW | Gold Coast Titans vs New Zealand Warriors

TEAM FORM GUIDE
Gold Coast Titans
To put it bluntly, the Titans have been garbage this year. Every year there’s high hopes and every year they are inconsistent. No one gave them any chance against the Broncos at Suncorp last week and they shocked us all and dominated Brisbane the whole game. That was only their fourth win of the season and they’ll be hoping to keep the momentum and get a win for their home crowd to get them further away from wooden spoon contention.

New Zealand Warriors
The Warriors are coming off a two game losing streak and look to bounce back. They were beaten by a hot Storm side last week but almost got the points over the Broncos the week before. To be fair, neither team has been great and there’s no real way to dress it up that both teams are in the bottom four with fours wins a piece.

SQUAD NEWS
Gold Coast Titans
Keegan Hipgrave and Kevin Proctor are both out of the 17 and replaced by Bryce Cartwright and Tyrone Peachey, who move off the bench and into the back row. Brenko Lee and Phillip Sami are on an extended bench so keep an eye on final team lists to see if there’s any changes although that seems unlikely.

Gold Coast Titans team list: 1. Alexander Brimson 2. Anthony Don 3. Jesse Arthars 4. Brian Kelly 5. Dale Copley 6. Tyrone Roberts 7. Ryley Jacks 8. Jarrod Wallace 9. Nathan Peats 10. Moeaki Fotuaika 11. Bryce Cartwright 12. Tyrone Peachey 13. Jai Arrow 14. Mitch Rein 15. Shannon Boyd 16. Jai Whitbread 17. Jack Stockwell 18. Will Matthews 19. Max King 20. Phillip Sami 21. Brenko Lee

New Zealand Warriors
Chris Satae is out, with Karl Lawton joining the bench. This seems strange as Jazz Tevaga also fills in at hooker quite regularly and there’s really no need for two bench hookers. Assuming that there will be a reshuffle at some stage as the Warriors props and Adam Blair aren’t known for playing big minutes. Look for Lawton to fill in at hooker, Tavaga in the back row and Burr at lock when the starters need a rest.

HEAD TO HEAD
The Warriors are one of the Titans bogey teams. Surprisingly, the Warriors have won 15 of the last 17 since 2011! All the games have been very high scoring, with the lowest total score being 28 points. The one big change from previous years is the lack of Shaun Johnson, who has carved the Titans up for years now. They didn’t have SJ back in Round Four and still got a 26-10 win back at Mount Smart.

KEY BATTLE
The battle of the fullbacks will play a big part of who gets the two points on Friday night. We all know what RTS can do. He’s the New Zealand test captain, Dally M medallist and one of the most damaging players in the game. His form hasn’t been as great thus far in 2019 however his forwards aren’t exactly laying the platform for him to do his work. He lines up against young gun AJ Brimson. AJ is in at fullback for the injured Michael Gordon however deserves his spot in the starting lineup anyway. With the ability to play in the halves, as a bench utility or his preferred fullback role, I’m of the belief that if he played the full year last year he was a good chance to get the nod for rookie of the year over Jamayne Isaako.

WHO WILL WIN?
It would take a brave person to put money on this game. Purely going off momentum gained from last week and the home ground advantage, I will be tipping the Titans, however there is zero confidence in that prediction and I will not be putting any of my hard earned cash on a game that could end 50-0 to either team.
